Star Wars: Attack Squadron Gets Cancelled

Disney Interactive announced recently that it’s going to pull the plug on the online game Star Wars: Attack Squadron.

Stealing inspiration from the largely popular ‘Rogue Squadron’ series on N64 and Gamecube this online game would have you engaging in space battles in some of the most famous ships and locations from the Star Wars franchise. Oh, and did we mention that this game was going to be free to play as well? Apparently this game never even left the beta stage, which has gotta make you wonder how much they really wanted to do with the game.

If you try to visit the game’s website you will now be welcomed by this message.

“We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons. After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences. We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta.”

Even though this game is getting cancelled at least they let us know that there will be other star wars games coming in the future with the line “so we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences.” Hopefully we can hear about these new ‘game experiences’ soon so we can get hyped up for an all new Star Wars game all over again.
