Capcom Can Now Be Bought Out

Capcom has revealed that they are now able to be bought out by a third party — if an investment is made in their stock.

Up until a few days ago, Capcom had what is known as a ‘takeover defense,’ which means other companies couldn’t acquire them through their shareholders. However, Capcom has announced that they will not be renewing this takeover defense, making them vulnerable to be bought out.

Capcom said that it will “react to take steps to ensure disclosure of the position of the board of directors,” as well as make sure “there is sufficient time for shareholders to examine the proposed large-scale purchase and reach a decision.”

Capcom has created many memorable franchises such as Resident Evil, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Monster Hunters, Street Fighter, Ace Attorney, and many more.

The question that everyone has been asking, however, is who is going to acquire Capcom, and who will benefit from it the most?

- Both Japanese companies.

- Could bring back the Monster Hunter series to PlayStation Platforms.

- Combining Street Fighter with PlayStation All Stars could make for a killer Fighting game.

- Both Japanese companies.

- Bring Resident Evil Series back onto Nintendo Platforms.

- The return of 2D side scrolling Mega Man games, like the New Super Mario Bros. series.

- Could westernize the company, and turn its franchises into gaming giants again with new gameplay mechanics to them.

- Transversely, they could turn Capcom’s franchises into Microsoft exclusives, bringing Microsoft back into the Japanese market.

Now the important thing to note here is that this is just speculation as to some of the possible outcomes of some companies acquiring Capcom. So what do you think, which company should acquire Capcom? Will this help improve Capcom as a whole and improve their franchises? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
