During E3 2015 GamerFitnation’s Antwand BlackBible Pearman spoke to Guy Perkins about the new game, out today, Batman: Arkham Knight, the finale to the epic trilogy that Rocksteady Studios has forged since 2009. Why the conclusion to such a great series? Well, according to Perkins, the game was foreseen as a trilogy, and they felt it was time for the series to end. He says this is the high point for the Batman: Arkham series.
The new game gives you the entirety of Gotham City, the Batmobile, all of Batman’s weapons you could ask for, as well as Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, and even Batgirl in the DLC. The game takes place a year following the events of Arkham City with the death of the Joker, and in his stead there is a power vacuum, and in that vacuum Scarecrow takes the helm, organizing the villains, unlike the chaos that Joker tended to have.
There are a slew of villains, all of which get their own sets of side missions, which take place in the Most-Wanted missions that Rocksteady demoed at E3, but unfortunately for GamerFitNation’s Antwand, there will be no Court of Owls in the game (but damn that would be cool). All the other supervillains are still on the streets, including the Riddler, who has given up his trophy hunting game for a more exciting set of racing games that require fast reflexes and good control of the Batmobile.
The idea of the co-op with Nightwing, Catwoman, Robin, and all the other helpful sidekicks Batman teams up with allows for some amazing takedowns and combos that can help you take out bigger enemies, as well as a larger number of enemies.
As for what’s next for Rocksteady, they will be working on putting out their DLC for Batman: Arkham Knight, then it’s a well-deserved holiday. As for any work to come after, GamerFitNation’s Antwand asked if there will be a Superman game in the works, but Perkins says that it is almost the impossible game to make (because we all remember Superman 64). Until we hear of the next big Rocksteady Studios game, we will have to be content with Batman: Arkham Knight, out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
