Get Yourself a Mission Impossible Mindset
Being a spy is something that just about everyone would like to do, just like the agents in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. Even if you don’t want to be a spy in every aspect, there is likely some component of the package that is appealing to you. Maybe you’re into being able to sneak around without anyone detecting you. Perhaps it’s the killer gadgets and technology that gets you geared up for spy action. Or, maybe it’s just the high speed cars or the thrill of combat that leaves you feeling charged with adrenaline. Whatever your particular cup of secret agent tea may be, there are many video games out there to get you feeling like you could take on your own Mission Impossible any day. Today, I take the time to show you just a few of these incredible games to put your mind into spy mode.
Mission Impossible Mindset: Master Snakes’ Stealth
If you’ve ever played any of the Metal Gear games, you know that they mostly rely on you being sneaky. This games often task you with infiltrating enemy defenses in order to rescue people, destroy the plans for unstoppable weapons, and sometimes unraveling government conspiracies. Lurking in the shadows are the powerful foes who seek to end your mission and keep their employers on top. Given the protagonists, often one of the Snakes, missions the task that the agents of Mission Impossible Rogue Nation are sent on is likely something that would be right up his alley. One of the best entries in the franchise, for super spy stealth, is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Other entries implement similar constructs, and gamers are interested to see what Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will bring to the stealth tactics of the series.
The Metal Gear franchise brings so many spy elements to gamers that it is hard to know where to begin. For starters, some give you a camouflage system in which you can change your uniform and face paint to blend in with your surroundings. There are also a couple of instances in which you must wear disguises and avoid direct contact with the few people who would notice that you are out of place. Just like in Mission Impossible films, you also have to keep yourself from being seen by enemy soldiers. You can hide behind trees, in logs, in crevices in mountainsides, and even in rivers and grass. If spotted, you will be placed into an alert phase during which you are easier to detect. Distractions, the sound from your weapons, and traps are other things that you can use to help Snake complete his mission, all of which are critical for agents running the missions in Mission Impossible.
Mission Impossible Mindset: Need for Madness
Another component of being a spy in Mission Impossible settings, you’ve got to be able to handle a high speed vehicle. For this kind of mentality training, you may want to turn to the Need for Speed franchise. Muscle cars, exotic cars, bikes, customizable cars, and more await you in this intense racing game. A new reboot is coming to the series, and it is likely to make the series bigger and better than ever. You can take on races with in game opponents, take part in freeway racer challenges, and test out your evasive skills by out maneuvering the police.
Most of what Need for Speed brings to the field in terms of Mission Impossible skills is fairly self explanatory. Agents must have fast vehicles and be able to use such vehicles to effectively out drive their enemies. Since Need for Speed gives you large environment to speed through, you will have plenty of space to let loose and try out your high speed driving skills. Since there are no opposing secret agents to get away from in the game, egging the Need for Speed police into a chase is the next best thing.
Mission Impossible Mindset: Gadgets from the Source
If you want to get in with gadgets, and have some stealth to go along with it, look no further than Mission Impossible: Operation Surma. You get to take on the role of Ethan Hunt as he and his comrades set forth to take down the Surma Corporation, which seeks world domination. With gadgets, action, and exotic locations this game has plenty of potential to gear up your brain for spy action.
Gadgets are an important part of working your way through this game. Even if you’re great at sneaking and/or fighting, you may not get far without the equipment to communicate with your team, disguise yourself, and scan your location. These pieces of technology and more will assist you, and bring out your inner secret agent!
