Midway is a video game developer that has been around for years. They’ve created both home console titles, and coin-operated arcade machine titles. As a company, they have delivered numerous breakthroughs for the gaming world and provided titles that have been cherished throughout the ages. Doom 64, Quake, Mortal Kombat, Rampage, and many others. One developer, Joshua Tsui, wants to create a documentary, Insert Coin, showing the legacy of Midway, from its origins to the company it is today.
As Midway was so prominent in arcades, and is still developing today, Tsui hopes that Insert Coin will become a documentary that will relate “the untold story of the greatest video game studio of the ’90.” This film will take viewers into Midway’s history, showing off where these games started, some cancelled ideas, and the tales of how some of the most prominent titles came into existence. No one is sure on what games, specifically, will be featured in the documentary, but it will certainly be a treat for any long time video game fan interested in the gaming industry.
Tsui cannot do this on his own, however. He and his team have started a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, and the team has a little less than a month to meet their target. Their goal for developing Insert Coin is $75,000 and they still have quite a lot to earn before they hit their target. You can help the team out by heading over to their page and giving, even if it’s just a small amount, to help them get this documentary rolling.
